For both a leading TMC and the largest OTA in Africa we have continuously solved business intelligence and data science related projects

When our client and their investor needed more transparency on data and financial performance they contacted our South African department

The challenge arose when their existing Oracle infrastructure could not cope with the daily operations and demanding data extracts concurrently, which was needed to run the business and inform stakeholders. 

We designed a new reporting database and chose Google Cloud as the provider which ensured high security, scalable infrastructure and a cost effective set up.

The result was data sets with millions of rows of data which was accessible 24/7 on any device they want. 

After consulting with the senior management we identified a report suite of more than 20 dashboards needed for various aspects of their business from operational to financial use cases 

We implemented cloud based data visualization in this case Tableau, to deliver the information throughout the organisation. This allows us to configure the access rights based on the role in the organization both internally and externally, ensuring the user only have access to the intended data.

We continue to deliver weekly written analysis to the management and the investors so they are always updated on the performance and any anomalies in their data.

In our data visualization, we primarily use Data Studio, PowerBI and Tableau, so we can find the right tool for you with a license price from DKK 0 per user.

From our experience, most companies are rarely ready for Self-service Business Intelligence, which is why it is important to have professional reporting tools and dashboards developed to gain the greatest possible acceptance from your employees.

 

The examples here have been changed to SMV Data's corporate identity, and data has been changed to a demo data set, but our dashboards are live and are of course adapted to our clients' logos and colors.

  • Location and route algorithm 
    Developed a custom algorithm using telematics data and predicting a vehicle's home and workplaces. 
    Used to determine how far vehicles drive from origin to points of interest, cost reduction and risk

  • Prediction of car theft
    Developed a predictable model using telematics data to predict whether a vehicle has been stolen or not.
    Used in the center to prioritize contact and work

  • Churn predictions
    Developed a model to predict whether a customer will terminate his contract with a company in the near future
    Used to focus efforts on retaining customers at risk to end the relationship

  • Customer segmentation
    Analyzed customer and transaction data to create customer segments to identify additional sales and cross sales opportunities, as well as understand different customer segments.

  • Financial forecast
    Developed an economic forecasting system, used for budgets, enabling input from sales managers and senior executives along with external factors. Further included forecast models on outstanding balance, opening volume and sales as well as outstanding debt.

    Developed an offline recommendation system that was used to send recommended products to customers via email to drive traffic to the e-store.

Automating  back - office processes 
 
 

Reduce cost and errors while increasing efficiency

Our clients will often need help with automating the reconciliation of their sales from their systems and and supplier invoicing up to thousands of transactions daily. Once you have migrated to the cloud, it is easy to incorporate reconciliation of excel files with your internal system data.

 

We also have experience in consolidating monthly accounts across systems and file formats, this happens quite automatically and our client has reduced the time to financial consolidation by more than 50%.
